What is LOVE

The word "Love" has many interpretations, including material satisfaction, romance, admiration, friendship, and parental love.

C. S. Lewis (1898-1963), the British author who wrote the novel series The Chronicles of Narnia, wrote in his famous work on the nature of love, “The Four Loves”, that there were four Greek words for our word "love":

storge (affection),

philia (friendship),

eros (sexual or romantic love), and

agape (selfless love, charity).

The Love of AGAPE

Agape love is unconcerned with the self and concerned with the greatest good of another.

Agape isn’t born just out of emotions, feelings, familiarity, or attraction, but from the will and as a choice.

Agape requires faithfulness, commitment, and sacrifice without expecting anything in return.

Agape is the highest form of love.

Agape is a form of love that is voluntarily self-sacrificial and gratuitous, and its origin is God.
